Michael brings to Roads Australia a keen understanding of the major economic, social and government policy drivers in transport, combined with a broad understanding of the key issues impacting on the industry. In recognition of his work in this area, Michael won the CEO Magazine Transport and Logistics Executive of the Year category in the 2014 Executive of the Year Awards. He holds a degree in Economics from the Australian National University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ diploma and advanced diploma courses. He also completed the Cambridge University Judge Business School Advanced Leadership Programme in November 2017. Throughout his career, Michael has sought to build strong working relationships between industry and government, with the aim of supporting and achieving public policy outcomes that are beneficial to national productivity and efficiency.
Mark has worked as a journalist and corporate communications practitioner for over 30 years. His journalistic career started on Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper and has included stints in both metro and regional media. As a PR professional he has worked with some of Australia's leading public and private sector organisations, particularly in the building and construction sectors. He also has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and event planning and delivery. Away from work, Mark plays in a band with similarly aged 'mid-life crisers' and is a passionate supporter of the Cronulla Sharks.
Hannah is a former Western Australian with a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA, winning the award for highest ranked graduate across the Marketing discipline. Since moving east, she has worked at the Institute of Public Administration and Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria across multiple stakeholder relations, governance and project management roles. Since joining Roads Australia in 2015, Hannah has played a key role in the growth and development of membership and program offerings, including the Fellowship and Young Professionals programs. She is a passionate stakeholder manager who thrives on bringing the right people together and delivering meaningful value for all members. To combat her true love of food and cooking, Hannah enjoys lots of volleyball, squash and running.
Rachael has 25 years of marketing and HR experience across a number of industries. She has worked for National Rail, CRA, Minenco (CRA/Rio Tinto), AAPA and more recently CSR Emoleum/Emoleum as their Marketing Manager (until 2004) and a consultant. Rachael joined Roads Australia to assist with marketing, event management, website management and member services. She holds a Graduate Diploma of Marketing with Distinction.
With tertiary qualifications in economics, accounting and governance, as well as significant international experience in membership-based organisations in France, Switzerland, the UK and Australia, Quentin joined RA in 2019 to head up our policy function. For the previous 12 years he worked for international regulatory bodies in the motor sport safety sector (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile), and before that in management consulting with Accenture. He is currently a Non-Executive Director at the Australian Road Safety Foundation and is passionate about governance, being a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and currently completing his Master of Professional Accounting and CPA qualification.
Emily is a transport engineer with over 15 years’ experience, primarily in the policy and advocacy space, and has been with RA since March 2020. She previously held a number of roles at RACV, from which she brings a strong understanding of member-based organisations. Emily has a broad knowledge across many aspects of the transport system, including technical and communications experience with a particular focus on road safety, road rules and design standards. Emily started her career at GTA Consultants where she managed traffic and parking impact assessments and road safety audits. Emily has Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours), is an accredited Road Safety Auditor, and is a member of Engineers Australia.
Marlie plays a key role in managing our stakeholder and sponsor relationships, as well as our Diversity and Inclusion Program. She has an extensive background in event management in both the private and not-for-profit sectors (Institute of Public Administration Australia), including the co-ordination of RA’s successful participation at the IRF World Road Meeting in India in 2017 and leading the Smart Cities: Future Transport delegation to the US and Canada in 2019. Working closely with industry and government stakeholders across Australia, Marlie has an intimate knowledge of the project pipeline and a keen understanding of infrastructure policy issues. She loves the ocean, weekends back to her home town and exploring all the newest restaurants.
Veronica is a member of CPA Australia and has more than 20 years' accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior experiences include working in a retail chain as an accountant, and at PwC as an auditor. Veronica has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accounting from La Trobe University and holds an ACCA qualification from the UK. Veronica is extremely efficient and detail oriented. She is also used to producing high quality work, in a time sensitive environment. She is passionate about book-keeping and accounting and is committed to giving 110 per cent to her work every single day.
Thao holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Prior to commencing with Roads Australia, she worked as an accountant for number of years at Kathmandu, an internationally listed retail company. She was responsible for preparing monthly accounting reports, reconciliation, payables, receivables and payroll for approximately 100 stores across Australia and New Zealand. Since joining Roads Australia, Thao has further developed her overall office management skills.
Prue comes to Roads Australia with a very strong background in events. She holds a Diploma of Event Management (Business) and has worked in both the non-for profit and private sectors - most recently, at a large sporting venue. Prue is an involved and passionate member of her Yarra Ranges community, having been a past recipient of Young Citizen of the Year, a current Director on the Board of the Mt Evelyn and Montrose Community (Bendigo) Bank, and a member of numerous local committees. She loves netball, exploring waterfalls, travelling to sunny destinations and brunching.
Alex has completed a Bachelor of Business specialising in Event Management. At Roads Australia, Alex plays a key role in pre and post event administration as well as assisting with the annual events program, with the help of her strong understanding of multiple project priorities and deadlines from previous liaison administration experience. On weekends Alex likes to spend her time visiting the latest art exhibitions and galleries in Melbourne or immersing herself in a new book.
